“Chaser Girl” aka Chase

Chase is a Papillion/terrier mix born in July 2002. She came to us as a pair of scared eyes taking refuge in my parents garden. She very slowly came around to trusting people, but is still nervous of men without dogs. She has always enjoyed the company of other dogs and loves nothing better then a good chase in the park with her doggie friends. She has taken part in agility since 2005 and as you can see from the photo is really enjoying it. Occassionally she will turn into a little prima donna and park herself at the top of the a-frame to take in the view.  She rules the house of myself and Rob and her “little” sister Mya. She is "Multum in Parvo" (much in little)

She is a heartbeat at my feet.

"Dramboro Takoda at Keyonee"  aka Koda

Takoda known as Koda was born on 11th February 2007.  Koda was breed by Mary Power   His mum is Mary's Thisbe and his Dad is Julie Holmes Jaro.  When he was born Ben was very ill and I had no intention of taking another dog but when Ben had to be put to sleep on 22th February my Vet suggested i go see the pups.  When I saw them I had an eye on a tri bitch and continued looking at her for the following few weeks but when I decided to take one and went to pick a pup Koda was the one.  (I know Ben picked him).

 "Keyonee Kaya (GB)" aka Kaya

Kaya was born on the 23 January 2002.   I wanted a Border Collie for over a year but could not find the right one but with the help of Julie we eventually got word that a Border Collie baby girl black/white was available.  Boat was booked and when she was eight weeks off we went.  Kaya was breed by Thomas W Longton from Lee End Farm Lanchashire.  Lee End Farm was used in the opening sequence for One man and his Dog.  Kaya's dad was a well known Trial Dog in England and the Longtons have been breeding Border Collies for four generations.  She in fact was to go to Swedan but was diverted to Ireland where she is loved to bits and competing at Graduate level obedience.

  "Maggie's Madam" aka Maggie

Maggie was rescued from a county Laois pound in 2003 as a pregnant 18-month old stray who shortly thereafter gave birth to 10 pups ...only 4 of which survived due to her severely emaciated poor physical condition... She was a dog who hadn't known much affection or care and was mistrustful of people initially. She liked to eat from dustbins and thought that leads made great chew toys. Her list of major fears included car journeys, traffic cones, men with sticks, white plastic bags, & election posters. However, her loving nature and happy-go-lucky personality won through and with time, patience and love she learned to trust people and eat her food from a bowl. She has learned to live with traffic cones, has forgiven the men with sticks, has won many prizes for agility and loves nothing better than to sit in the front seat of the car and go for a drive. She is now much loved by all and is one of the happiest easy-going dogs in the world! A real success story.

"My little Cudgeen" aka Holly

Holly, my little Cudgeen or in other words, my little sweetheart, and that's exactly what she is to me.   I rescued her In January 2004 at approximately 8 months old we went to basic obedience classes with the WTCI and before we knew it we were doing agility and god does holly love it.   Holly has won a number of rosettes and each time she does it's like the first time for me!  She is the most friendly dog , she comes everywhere with me is absolutely my pet and friend first.   My whole world has changed since getting Holly.  However, be under no illusions she is by no means perfect, she has two weaknesses.   One, she still pulls when out for a walk and two hates horses.   But hey she's mine and I love her to bits!!  However, being with the club has taught me to deal with these issues.

Princess Daisy Doo aka Daisy

Daisy was born in November 2007 and is a Labradoodle (cross between a standard poodle and golden Labrador).  Having lost my faithful Labrador last year (Sandy) I decided to research doodles and ended up picking Daisy up from a breeder in Wexford.  She has changed my life.  She requires endless exercise so that’s good for me also.  She loves to fetch and her favourite thing is sticks and tennis balls, although she will fetch just about anything.  I hope to do some agility with her next year at the Club as I think this would be good for her as she loves to jump and is very athletic.  She is very friendly both with humans and other dogs and at the moment does not seem to mind cats too much, unless they dangle their tail over the garden wall.   Daisy is a water dog and just adores water, puddles, mud you name it.  She just likes to splash around but, unlike Labradors, she dries very quickly with a towel and does not shed too much.  I hope I have Daisy for quite some time to come.

 “Rudesheim Ulla” aka Mya

Mya is a German Shepherd born in November 2004.  Mya came to us as a 10 week old pup and has stolen our hearts. She spends every hour of every day dreaming up ways to get me to throw her ball for her. She has trained us well and finds us useful to have around. While she loves agility and wanted to try working trials her hip score has ruled them both out and she has decided to try compeditive obedience instead.

"Shelldo Pebbles" "Bouncing Boy Oscar" & "Pretty Boy Sam" aka Pebbles, Oscar & Sam.

Pebbles is a terrier cross born in 2000. I got pebbles from my mam in 2000 for my birthday, She was the only black & white puppy in a box in the boot of a woman's car...She asked mam to take one as she didn't want them. This tiny tiny thing arrived terrified of everything........... noise & men especially. it was not long after Halloween when we got her, she must have been through hell during that time because even now she spends Halloween week under the bed or behind the tv. Now pebbles goes everywhere with us even to work with my mam sometimes. The women there love to see her & she laps up all the attention ! It took a long time before she would even go for a walk with Donal (my husband to be!) He was very patient with her and now they go out on a Saturday to loads of different places ... It was because of pebbles that I got involved with WTCI we done the basic training classes, then moved on to Agility which she loved. Pebs was improving every week but one day we noticed she was tired alot. We whisked her off to the vet....... only to discover she was due puppies any day!!!!! That was 3yrs ago, she had 3 lovely boys Oscar Sammy & Ben. Ben now lives with a family, we get to have him over the holidays. Pebbles takes more of a back seat now letting Oscar & Sam think they rule the roost.................

We are all one big happy family  & wouldn't be with out any of them!!

"The Lion King" aka Simba

Simba "The Lion King" was born in May 2003 and I rehomed him from Ashton Dog Pound. It wasn't all plain sailing I won't lie. He was a very, very unsettled any many of the first few months were spent "adjusting" to life with a new dog! He jumped out our 2nd floor window and iracoulously

survived, he was knocked down, split his paw open a couple of times, yet still lives to tell the tale. I got involved in the agility completely by accident. I intially bought Simba for some "basic obdience" and myself of course! I really wanted to be able to let him off lead and have him come back, simple as that, he used to disappear for hours the minute he slipped away. Anyway a six week obdience course led to 18 weeks and with our basic commands under our belt we ventured into the world of agility. Its great fun and we are still learning two years on. Simba and me get great exercise from this sport but more importantly, as crazy as it may sound, we understand each other more. I would recommend it to any dog lover, its a great way of meeting "crazy dog people" like us.
