HELP NEEDED AT ATHY 2009. We greatly appreciate the continued use of this venue so please give us your support by helping us to keep it clean. We will have rubbish bins as usual positioned around the grounds but also this year we will have a recycling point located near the catering area with boxes for bottles, cans and plastics. We would ask you to recycle anything you can and keep the general rubbish to a minimum. Anyone coming to the show for the first time or those who are unsure, remember that the caravan site is located on the Dublin road, the N78, on the Dublin side of Athy. If you are coming from Athy you will pass a service station and Centra shop on your left, the site is then on your right about half a mile further on. Coming from Dublin you will pass Abacus Garden Centre on your right and the site is only a few hundred yards further on your left. Look out for the black and white, 'Working Trials Club of Ireland' sign. Take your time this is a busy and dangerous road. Well some of us are already here and setup is well underway. Click here for the 'almost' live pictures as setup develops and the show begins. Safe journey to you all and see you soon. - 21/05/09
After last year's success Athy 2009 once again will include a BBQ evening on Saturday night with even more creativity and effort being made this year. The WTCI Marquee will be open from 7.30pm onwards so get the day's chores out of the way and come along at your leisure. Food will be served till about 10pm. Don't forget Jimmy Duggan, our BBQ chef, will be on hand both Saturday and Sunday in the catering area providing food for sale along with items of confectionery. Breakfast will be available from 7am with lunch from 12 noon. Also this year we are delighted to continue our association with John Higgins and Black Blur Photography as official photographer, now a regular feature at WTCI events. Directions to the show tomorrow.

Athy 2009 opens on Friday night with a 'Meet and Greet' reception at the WTCI marquee at 9.00pm. Please come along and welcome our two judges this year, Anders Bergqvist and Susanne Karlsson. Take this opportunity to meet them socially and find out a little about agility in Sweden. We will also be launching our new clothing on Friday night complete with the WTCI logo especially designed for this show and our 40th Anniversary celebrations. Anyone who ordered clothing at the Championship show can collect their order then.

On the final countdown now to Athy 2009 and everyone is watching the evermore unsettled weather in the hope of some form of respite. With this in mind we will have over 1200 square feet of cover this year including a dedicated catering area and general shelter for during competitions. In spite of moving the show to a week earlier than usual and events on elsewhere Athy for 2009 has received its second highest entry with 81 dogs competing. Keep watching this space, more details of the weekend's activities to follow tomorrow.
